# Full coverage

> What people actually mean by full coverage auto insurance, why it usually means liability plus comprehensive and collision, and why no policy uses that phrase.

**Full coverage** is not a technical insurance term. People usually mean carrying liability plus comprehensive and collision on an auto policy.

Lenders require comp and collision while you finance a vehicle. After payoff, compare premium cost to your car's current value before keeping both.
