Overview

Nelson & Associates Inc (incorporated November 18, 2025) is an American Family Insurance agency led by principal agent Weston Nelson. The agency is licensed in 20 states and holds over 1,000 policies in force. The agency pairs that licensed practice with cloud-native workflow orchestration. AI agents handle reception, qualification, and scheduling. A licensed human gives every coverage recommendation, quote, and bind.

AI concierge and qualification layer

Claire: personal lines concierge

Answers the agency line at (763) 733-7475 by voice at any hour. Handles personal lines and life inquiries, warm policy transfers, and scheduling of annual coverage and life reviews for the existing book. Hands off to a licensed human on request. See Claire and Max.

Max: small business commercial triage

Prospects small businesses in a defined set of six commercial classes, in licensed states only. Collects risk attributes, certificate of insurance needs, and renewal dates, then schedules a quoting session with Weston. Paid data enrichment runs only after qualification is confirmed.

Multi-cloud credit and failover router

Inference runs through one router that draws on whichever provider’s credits and capacity are available, and fails over in order.
  • Switch: LLM_PROVIDER selects anthropic, bedrock, or vertex for every Claude caller. The tier order and models live in config/inference-router.json, not in code.
  • Failover target: under 150 ms from a tier error or timeout to the request to the next tier, excluding the next model’s own inference time. This target is set by the owner and is not yet a measured result.
  • Prompt caching: ephemeral cache markers are set only when a prompt reaches the model’s minimum cacheable length, so cached calls are billed at the cached rate and short prompts are never marked.
  • Request safety: requests to Sonnet-class models are normalized to the provider’s API rules before they leave the process, so a provider switch does not produce a rejected request.
  • Extensible: another tier, such as Azure through Microsoft for Startups or a direct provider credit, is one entry in the router configuration. No Azure tier is enabled today. Credit coverage is confirmed per program and is not assumed.

Three governance pillars

Human-in-the-Loop

Claire and Max handle responsiveness, initial qualification, data enrichment, and appointment setting. Licensed principal Weston Nelson reviews, advises, quotes, and binds every policy.

Compliant-by-Design

Aligned with American Family Insurance guidelines, state department of insurance rules in 20 states, and TCPA and 10DLC opt-in rules. Every outbound contact passes a consent gate, STOP requests are honored, and each consent decision is written to an audit log.

Secure-by-Design

GitHub Actions authenticates to Google Cloud and AWS by OIDC or workload identity where the provider supports it. A CI check fails any new static cloud key, and it allows only a short, named list of older service account keys (calendar, Drive audit, and app store publishing) that are being moved to workload identity. Organization policy bans creating new service account keys. Some third-party platform credentials still live in the platform secret store. Secrets are scanned in CI and blocked before they reach a commit. Access is least-privilege. Vendor data retention terms are reviewed per vendor, and no retention claim is assumed.
